Stakeholder Discussion Topic: LINKING ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION WITH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
LINKING ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION WITH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. Since the start of the stakeholder process, the group has discussed how to link environmental protection with economic development. This is at the core of the stakeholder visioning process. Use this forum to note specific links between these issues in the current economy, and to propose how environmental protection should be linked with economic development in the future. We can take the ideas presented on this forum to the next stakeholder meeting for discussion. |

"Heaven's Gate" is the most apt phrase I can think of when I realize the need for environmental protection as job #1 to preface all planning ideas. You can't sell a house with a view if the view is taken to build the house. In many ways, the present economic down turn will provide a respite to grapple with the universal problem of planning .... "you can not have your cake and eat it too". |
